SW ranges: Light to moderate snow spreading over northern sections in the afternoon with freezing levels near 1000 to 1200 metres. Moderate to strong southwesterly ridgetop winds. 

NW ranges: Moderate to heavy flurries expected today with highest amounts over the south to southwest facing slopes. Freezing levels rising to 1000 to 1500 metres in the afternoon. Strong to extreme southwesterly ridgetop winds.

A few light flurries over North Rockies today with moderate to strong westerly ridgetop winds. Freezing levels rising to 1000 to 1500 metres in the afternoon.

Snow today as another frontal system moves over the area. Snowfall accumulation near 10 cm. Moderate east to southeast winds.

Forecast for Tonight - 4 p.m. to 4 a.m. PST:

SW ranges: Moderate to heavy snow spreading across with the South Coast with freezing levels near 1000 to 1200 metres. Strong to extreme southwesterly ridgetop winds. 

NW ranges: Moderate to heavy flurries and moderate to strong southwesterly ridgetop winds both easing tonight in the wake of the frontal system. Freezing levels falling to below 800 metres overnight.

Light to moderate snow spread from North Rockies to North Columbia ranges tonight as the frontal pushes into southeastern BC. Freezing levels remain near 1000 to 1500 metres. 

Moderate to strong southwesterly to westerly ridgetop winds across interior ranges.

Snow tapers to flurries early this evening as the system moves inland. Snowfall accumulation near 5 cm. Winds shift to strong southwest and then ease to moderate southwest overnight.

Forecast for Saturday - 4 a.m. to 4 p.m. PST:

SW ranges: Heavy snow continues as the front becoming stalled over the South Coast. Freezing levels rising to 1200 to 1500 metres in the afternoon. Strong to extreme southwesterly ridgetop winds. 

NW ranges: Light to moderate flurries expected over coastal ranges with freezing levels rising to 800 to 1200 metres in the afternoon. Light to moderate southwesterly ridgetop winds continue to ease through the day. 

Moderate snow expected across most interior ranges north of Kootenay-Boundary and South Rockies. Freezing levels rise to 1200 to 1700 metres in the afternoon. 

Moderate to strong southwesterly ridgetop winds persist over interior ranges.

A weak upper ridge over the area will bring some sunny breaks but a chance of flurries lingers as well. Light to moderate southerly winds.

The active weather remains over the SW ranges as the atmospheric river stalls over the South Coast. Moderate to heavy precipitation continue on Sunday with southwest facing slopes receiving the highest precipitation amounts. Precipitation and strong to extreme southwesterly ridgetop winds will gradually ease Sunday night as the system slowly moves southeastward. 

On Monday, the weakening system moves into Washington State departing our region. This leads to a drying and clearing trend over the SW ranges.

On Sunday, moderate snow continues over most interior ranges expect for regions near the U.S. border. Strong southwesterly ridgetop winds continue.

On Monday, as the system moves southeastward and weakens, moderate snow will spread into southeastern ranges and then taper off Monday evening.

On Sunday, a weak upper trough arrives. Sunny breaks and a chance of flurries persist. Light southerly winds. 

On Monday, a weakening system approaches the Alaska Panhandle but only gives a few centimetres of snow to the area. Winds increase to moderate easterlies.

A moisture laden frontal system impacts BC today and through the weekend bringing moderate to heavy precipitation and strong to extreme ridgetop winds to the province.

The SW ranges will receive the highest precipitation amounts with this system as the front stalls over the South Coast on Saturday creating an atmospheric river pattern through the weekend.
